Morning Walks Through Gramercy Park

Living just north of the neighborhood Gramercy Park, I'm able to walk through this charming area of Manhattan without paying the price. Dating back to the 1830's, the park itself (also called Gramercy Park) is known for being private and gated where only those living in buildings directly facing the park have access to a key that unlocks the gates.

(EverydayRarity Tip: Another way you can get a key is by becoming a member of The Player's Club, a private club tailored to people who enjoy the arts. Members and their guests can borrow a key and let themselves into the park.)

Even without entering the gates, the surrounding neighborhood is quite peaceful and quiet, tucked away from high rise buildings. Every morning, I would make my loop down Lexington Avenue, wrap around the park, head down Irving Plaza, grab an iced coffee at Irving Farm, and then walk back up.

It's a very refreshing walk - with coffee shops, cheese shops, beautiful buildings, and restaurants (like the farm-to-table dining spot, Friend of a Farmer. Just make sure to get there early, since they don't take reservations).

Walking through Gramercy Park is one of my favorite paths to start to my day.
